🍔 Copycat Big Mac (Home Edition)

✨ Stack it high, sauce it up, and skip the drive-thru

You could hit the golden arches. Or… you could stay in your slippers and make the exact same burger — but juicier, saucier, and stacked to your personal chaos level.

We’re talking double patties, melty cheese, shredded lettuce avalanche, and the holy grail: homemade Big Mac sauce that tastes just like the real deal (if not better). Get ready to build a beast.

🧺 You’ll need (makes 2 burgers):

  • 300g beef mince (20% fat = juicy dreams)

  • Salt & pepper

  • 2 burger buns + 1 extra bun base (trust the process)

  • 2 slices American cheese

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped

  • Shredded iceberg lettuce

  • Dill pickle slices

For the sauce:

  • 3 tbsp mayo

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp finely chopped gherkins or relish

  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ¼ tsp garlic powder

  • ¼ tsp onion powder

👩‍🍳 How to make it:

  1. Mix your sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Taste. Freak out. Chill it in the fridge to let the flavours mingle.

  2. Shape your mince into 4 small, thin patties (smashburger style). Season with salt & pepper.

  3. Toast your buns in a dry pan until golden. You’ll need a top, a bottom, and a middle bun (that’s just the bottom of an extra bun — very Big Mac energy).

  4. In a hot pan, fry the patties for 2–3 mins per side. Add cheese to 2 of them while hot, so it melts like a dream.

  5. Time to build:

    • Bottom bun: sauce, onions, lettuce, pickles, cheesy patty

    • Middle bun: more sauce, onions, lettuce, plain patty

    • Top bun: pop it on like a crown

  6. Squish gently, slice (or don’t), and devour. Napkins strongly recommended.
